At LAT Apprenticeship, our programmes compliment your business needs which ensures that the apprentice will learn skills that are applicable to their role at your company.

WHAT IS AN APPRENTICESHIP?

Apprenticeships are government funded work-based training programmes for people aged 16 and over, combining on-the-job training with study for nationally recognised qualifications. Any employees who enrol onto an apprenticeship programme are entitled to 20% off-the-job training which is delivered in a variety of ways, including day release, block release, online learning, classroom seminars, etc.  The format of the 20% off-the-job element is specific to each programme - view our programmes for more information.

AN INVESTMENT IN YOUR ORGANISATION'S FUTURE TALENT

For an employer, apprenticeships are a great way to build a skilled and motivated workforce and allow you to build a future talent pipeline, skilled in your industry and specific business remit.  Qualifications range between 1-4 years to complete depending on the level: Intermediate, Advanced, Higher or Degree. Apprenticeships require investment from you as an organisation and when done right, the reward is incredible for both the company and the apprentice.

By offering an apprenticeship you can ensure that the skills developed are matched to your company’s current and future needs. This will help fill any skill gaps and allow your business to source future managers and leaders from within, so you don’t have to worry.

  • 92% of companies that have taken on apprentices believe this leads to a more motivated and satisfied workforce

  • 86% said apprenticeships helped them develop skills relevant to their organisation

  • 80% have seen a significant increase in employee retention

A BIT ABOUT THE APPRENTICESHIP LEVY

The following government website details the minimum wage applicable to apprentices -  https://www.gov.uk/apprenticeships-guide/pay-and-conditions.  LAT Apprenticeships encourages our partner companies to be competitive, where possible, so the hourly rate is at the discretion of individual organisations. Remember, only the apprenticeship programme fees can be recovered from the Apprenticeship Levy - the apprentice’s salary must be paid for out of the organisation’s budget.

Individual employers’ funding will then be made available to them via a new digital account, through which employers will be able to pay for training for apprentices via a recognised training provider, such as LAT Apprenticeships.

SAFEGUARDING

LAT Apprenticeships is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share in this commitment.  A disclosure/status check will be sought from the Disclosure and Barring Service for apprentices that are over the age of 18 prior to enrolment.

As an employer POINT CNC Limited embrace the idea of training the next generation of engineers and working with organisations such as LAT enables a structured academic apprenticeship to work hand in hand and compliment the instruction and learning obtained within the workplace. Having three apprentices complete their apprenticeships we are now looking for the next apprentice to join us and are working with Jo at LAT to find a suitable candidate.

POINT CNC Limited

Hi Jo,

I would like to add that the whole process in dealing with you and LAT has been a simple, efficient pleasure.

Your dedication to the these young recruits has been excellent and the process has been easy and rewarding. The pre screening has made selection easier and well-organized from conception to starting their employment. Would not hesitate to recommend and use your services again.

Hello Jo / Iona

I would like to take this opportunity to give some very positive feedback to the apprenticeship team. I expressed an interest in taking on three apprentices from sept to fill new roles within our trust. This would help individuals who might have not had any work-based experience in IT, but would like to be given the chance to prove themselves. Obviously, everyone trying something for the first time has reservations.

I met with Jo Buck to discuss how this would work, the percent of onsite training with a mentor and IT coursework involved etc. I thought the meeting was very helpful in giving a greater understanding of the apprenticeship scheme and how it works. We went through and covered all aspects and answered any queries I had.  I found the whole process to be very professional and looked forward to meeting the candidates they would find for my roles. I would like to say we did have some more difficult requirements for them to match.

I am very pleased to say they found 4 candidates which matched our requirements to the letter. I was then asked to interview and feedback my choices if I found them to be the right fit.  This is the point I would like to highlight as the candidates were all appropriate. They had obviously done a marvellous job of shortlisting and checking the all the candidates. Interviewing for the IT apprenticeships was an extremely smooth and easy process. The candidates were of a much higher standard than I expected, which reflects highly on the initial selection process, and the understanding of what was required was exceptional. I like to give credit where it is due and also would like to thank you for all your hard work. Both Me and Laura know how hard it is to find the right person so appreciate the work and time that went into this. All the candidates have relevant skills and life experiences that would hold them in good stead for these roles. They all were very focused on what they wanted to achieve and had an excitable enthusiasm for the jobs they were applying for. We really enjoyed the interviews and are looking forward to working with the chosen candidates.

I feel very confident in the apprenticeship team and the support they will provide why these candidates complete their courses.
